Introduction of belts on automotive car

There are three main types of engine belts: water pump belts, generator belts, and air conditioner compressor belts. These belts are arguably one of the most important wearing parts on a truck, because if some other parts are damaged, the whole vehicle can still be taken to the repair shop. Once the water pump belt or generator belt of the engine is broken, it will cause serious consequences if it continues to drive. It is best to stay put and replace it with a new belt before continuing to drive. Although the belt of the air conditioner compressor is broken, it will not affect the normal driving, but it is very uncomfortable to have no air conditioner in the hot summer. What's more, the belt suddenly breaks while driving, which may damage other parts.

Therefore, old drivers who used to run long distances or experienced card friends will prepare a few belts in the car in case of emergency. At the same time, they will also regularly observe whether there is damage or aging on the belt.

Common engine belts are divided into V-belts, V-belts and timing belts. V-belts and V-ribbed belts are composed of three parts: top fabric, tension thread and bottom rubber. V-ribbed belts are equivalent to multiple micro V-belts, which are wider and thinner, allowing them to wrap around smaller drive wheels. It has greater flexibility; it enables the multi-ribbed belt to transmit power in complex transmission devices. This transmission can drive multiple engine accessories to transmit power.

The cost of the V-ribbed belt is higher than that of the ordinary V-belt, and the transmission efficiency is also better. The timing belt is composed of top rubber plus fibers, tension threads and bottom rubber. The tension thread is made of a very strong fiberglass. The bottom layer of the timing belt consists of precision-molded teeth. Since the timing belt is meshed with gears, it generally does not slip.

V-belts are the oldest type of engine belts and the cheapest. The multi-ribbed belt is currently used more in truck engines. It can drive two or three accessories with one belt, and can cooperate with automatic tensioning pulleys to realize automatic adjustment of tensioning force. The V-belt needs to cooperate with the angle adjustment device to adjust the tension regularly to avoid slipping.
