The Difference between Multi Wedge Belt And Ordinary Rubber V Belt

The characteristic of a multi wedge belt is that it is very thin and wide in width. It has significant advantages over ordinary rubber belts. Due to its thinness, the working stress it receives during work is relatively small, and the heat generated will also decrease accordingly. The overall wide design allows for a large contact area between it and the pulley, and can transmit more power than a V-belt.

The main features are as follows:

1. The transmission power is high, and when the space is the same, it is 30% higher than the transmission power of a regular V-belt.

2. The transmission system has a compact structure, and under the same transmission power, the space occupied by the transmission device is 25% less than that of a regular V-belt.

3. The belt body is thin and flexible, suitable for transmission with small pulley diameters (smaller than traditional V-belt pulleys), and can also drive multiple wheels. Adapted to high-speed transmission, with a belt speed of up to 40m/s, low vibration, low heat generation, and smooth operation.

4. Heat resistance, oil resistance, wear resistance, low elongation during use, and long service life.

The application of V-belts is very extensive, and its presence can be seen on many mechanical equipment. Relatively speaking, its cost is cheaper, the technical content is not high, and the accuracy requirements for belt grooves are not high. Therefore, its ability to transmit power is not very strong, and its lifespan is short. Nowadays, it is rare for trucks to assemble this type of ordinary V-belt.

Although we have used advanced transmission belts, it does not mean that they will not malfunction. Generally, belt failures are mostly caused by lack of maintenance, such as slipping and wear caused by too little tension, and early damage caused by too much tension. So the later inspection and maintenance still have a significant impact on the lifespan of the belt.
